While involved in a violent battle someone encouraging you to, “Be at peace” in the midst of it sounds like insensitive foolishness, yet this is the word of the LORD under such circumstances.

Why? Is He callous, thoughtless, or crazy?! Yes, I said it so that those of you who’ve thought it and felt convicted don’t have to. The unequivocal answer is NO GOD is none of those things. But He is eternal, He knows the end from the beginning, and He is all powerful. And more than anything the LORD loves us and has nothing but good and prosperous intentions for our lives. If all of this is true, why then does the LORD command us to be at peace during intense warfare? Here are some reasons.

Our enemy uses chaos and confusion as a weapon

​

The Bible teaches that GOD is NOT the originator of confusion; “For GOD is not the author of confusion, but of peace…” (1 Corinthians 14:33, KJV). Not only is the LORD the orchestrator of peace in every situation, He is the Prince of Peace (Isaiah 9:6)! But Satan uses against you the strategy of chaos and confusion in order to provoke fear and anxiety in the soul. You are commanded in the WORD to live life by your HOLY SPIRIT-led spirit. When you are fearful and anxious it’s difficult to operate in FAITH. It is also hard to hear in your spirit instructions from the LORD. These two factors increase the likelihood of losing the battle. Peace is an effective counter strategy to the enemy’s attack. “How can I access peace in the midst of confusion?” you may ask. Cling to JESUS and ask Him for a download in your soul; He’s the Prince of Peace. Get verses of Scripture about peace, put them on 3x5 cards, and recite them until you know them by heart. Breathe deeply (in through your nose, out through your mouth with puckered lips) when you feel your heart begin to race or your palms become sweaty. In so doing you’ll experience a physiological benefit that will lessen stress chemicals in your bloodstream and slow your pulse. Try it. There now, that’s better. Now your physical and spiritual being can work together to access the peace of GOD.

You have GOD given authority

​

Have you ever seen a nervous marine in uniform? NO! They look steely eyed and hard jawed; even the women. Do you know why? They’ve been taught that they represent the toughest country on the face of the planet and have the military might to back up that claim. Every marine has fully embraced this teaching as gospel. Now in your mind compare the army of the LORD with any of the branches of the US military. What do we look like in full array? Maybe I should first prove to you from the WORD that you are a soldier:

“Thou therefore endure hardness as a good soldier of JESUS CHRIST. No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier.” (2 Timothy 2:3 &4, KJV)

“For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh; (for the weapons of your warfare are not carnal, but mighty through GOD to the pulling down of strong holds:) Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of GOD, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of CHRIST…” (2 Corinthians 10:3-5, KJV)

“Finally, my brethren, be strong in the LORD, and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armour of GOD, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of GOD, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.” (Ephesians 6:10-13, KJV)

There you are; you’re a soldier in GOD’S army and there’s a spiritual war going on. Oh, you didn’t know that when you accepted JESUS as your LORD and SAVIOR you were drafted and deployed into a war zone? Well, now you do. Take a moment and let that sink in. Peace is essential on the battlefield. Without it you could step on an IED and blow your leg off!

​

Access your GOD given authority by FAITH (Luke 10:19), take a deep breath, put on your war face, and attack the enemy forces. Remember Who you represent…Almighty GOD, the Ultimate Authority against Whom no human or demonic foe can stand! You can be at peace.

   

The LORD and His Angelic Host Will Back You Up 

​

It is written in Hebrews 1:14 that the angels of the LORD are, “…sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation.” Psalm 91:11 &12 states, “For He shall give His angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways. They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone.” Do you remember the account in 2 Kings 6:13-17 when the king of Syria sent a mighty force to go and capture Elisha? His servant Gehazi saw their numbers and he became terrified. Elisha asked the LORD to open Gehazi’s spiritual eyes so that he could see. When the LORD answered Elisha’s prayer the servant saw that the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire surrounding Elisha and angels were riding in them! The LORD is committed to sending you angelic help in the battle so, be at peace.

The LORD Will Give You Effective Strategies

​

In the Old Testament we learn that the LORD is a GOD of battles from the accounts of His exploits against the Egyptians, Amorites, Moabites, Amalekites, Philistines, Syrians, etcetera. Every time His people were warred against, the LORD gave their leader supernatural effective strategies for them to experience victory. Did you hear that? GOD gave them strategies to guarantee their victory! Remember that when you go into battle using GOD’S strategy the fix is in and victory is assured! Knowing this, there’s no reason for you not to have peace.

​

Obviously the WORD of GOD has knowledge that many of us are either not aware of, or have not applied in our lives; this is why we don’t recognize that PEACE IS POWER! Think about how JESUS functioned while He walked the Earth. Was He ever stressed out…unnerved…caught off guard? NO! He knew:

• He was the Prince of Peace

• His authority

• The Father and the host of Heaven were there for Him

• He had effective, victorious strategies for every situation.

 

Receive the revelation that peace is power. Draw closer to the LORD, know your authority in Him, remember that the Father and the host of Heaven are there for you, and ask Him for effective strategies that will guarantee your victory in every battle. Applying this wisdom will cause you to become the peaceful, powerful, fearsome soldier that’s a threat to the kingdom of darkness as the LORD intends! “Peace I leave with you, My peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” (John 14:27, KJV)

DECLARE: “LORD JESUS, I receive that peace is power. I accept You as the Prince of Peace in my life. I will change my patterns of behavior and make room to draw closer to You. Please train me to be a peaceful, powerful, fearsome soldier in Your army. Thank You for providing angels to back me up in battle. Amen.”
